Très rapidement, grâce à ses qualités nautiques et ses performances, le Dragon apparaît comme un bateau de régate idéal, tant et si bien qu’il devient le quillard officiel des jeux Olympiques en 1948, statut qu’il gardera plus de vingt ans. Modernisé au fil des saisons sans pour autant perdre sa monotypie, ce voilier aux lignes d’une grande pureté a su défier les modes et fidéliser une clientèle de fins barreurs et d’amoureux des belles carènes.
