5. Archipelago Raid
The Archipelago Raid is an extreme sailing competition where Sport, Nature and Adventure are perfectly associated. Today, the Archipelago Raid is “the largest and most extreme orienteering sailing competition in the world” The concept is simple. Each team sails intensely day and night on a Formula 18 (5,5 m catamaran), along a unique course drawn among 100.000 rocks and islands. On the way, the competitors have to find 20-25 checkpoints located on islands (pontoons, beaches, boats, lighthouses…) and described in the “Archipelago Raid Book” (latitude, longitude). The teams are free to choose their route between two checkpoints.

Team Bullimore will be one of four crews chasing a $1million prize in this first ever HSBC-sponsored global yacht race to start and finish in the Arabian Gulf. The 21,000 mile race takes the fleet down the Indian Ocean into the Southern Ocean and around the five great capes of Australia, New Zealand, South America and South Africa before returning to the oil state of Qatar at the end of April, in what will undoubtedly be a new world record time for any circumnavigation.

12. Nokia Oops Cup
Nokia Oops Cup is a sail racing competition for Formula 60 trimarans. It includes City Races and Offshore Races in the Nordic & Baltic countries. The first Oops Cup event was sailed in 2001. Atlant Ocean Racing is managing the event together with local yacht clubs. A Formula 60 is a 60 foot trimaran. These multihull racers are approximately 18 meters long, 16 meters wide and weigh about five tons. The maximum sail area is 400 square meters. This is twice the size of sail area and half the weight of a Volvo Ocean 60. The big sails and the light hulls make it possible for these boats to reach speeds exceeding 30 knots.

15. World Sailing League 2009 ..:::
Sailing legends Russell Coutts and Paul Cayard have teamed up with internationally renowned Portuguese sports promoter, João Lagos, to create a new annual global sports series. The World Sailing League (WSL) will be held at premier sailing locations around the world with the series winner receiving a cheque for $2 million. Twelve teams, representing nations, will compete in identical, state-of-the-art 70ft catamarans. It is anticipated that there will be venues in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America and South America. Cayard and Coutts are both committed to skipper teams in the league.

A distinguishing characteristic of the Trophee Clairefontaine is to oppose champions coming from widely different backgrounds providing them with exactly the same equipment. This is the SailingOne monotype catamaran 7,65 meters long (25') specially designed for the competition and used exclusively in the Trophy Clairefontaine. 17. Worrell 1000
The Worrell 1000 catamaran race from Virginia Beach to Florida. Imagine snowboarding in South Beach, Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, the Outer Banks. Sounds impossible. Well, it is - on snow. But, put that same panache and attitude on hi-tech, colorful beach catamarans racing from beach to beach along the U.S. east coast like a nautical Tour de France and you have the Worrell 1000 - sailing's version of snowboarding, with a monstrous halfpipe thrown in at Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.

18. Multi Cup Café Ambassador
In the ten years since the ORMA Multihull Championship was founded back in 1996, the circuit has gained recognition worldwide and now features among the most spectacular of all sailing events. Five trimarans will be taking part in the 2006 run of the Multi Cup Café Ambassador a new annual championship format. Racing on the circuit is run crewed and comprises one ocean race (Londres-Alpes Maritimes) in which a 6th boat has been invited to take part - Sopra Group, and five Grand Prix.

20. A-Cat Worlds
A-cat Worlds. Beginning in November of 2000 when the North American Championships were held in Key Largo, A-Cat Sailors from across North America have returned every year to the Florida Keys to indulge in warm winter sunshine and outstanding sailing conditions. Through the years the event has grown from as few as 10 boats to the 57 boats that enjoyed the festivities in Islamorada.
