Well, it's the name of my boat but it's really more than that. It's a state of mind (depending on how many cocktails you might have had it could be a lack of mind). Brothers Rhett and Glenn have continued to maintain the yacht, under the watchful eye of Vince “The Admiral” Goldswain. Welcome to the BG SPIRIT website
BG has pushed itself to the forefront of ocean sailing with its decision to sponsor a yacht in the Global Challenge 2004 / 2005
Considered the world’s toughest yacht race, the event sees a fleet of identical 72-footers sail 30,000 miles round the world in the ‘wrong’ direction — against the prevailing winds and currents.

Icon Sailing
Although race boat technology is clearly evident in the hull and rig design of Dick and Bonnie Robbins’s 65 –footer, Icon, she remains a cruising boat-one with no compromises that will reduce speed. One look at the sleek lines and tall rig, and you can see she was made to perform well under sail. At 31,000 pounds Icon is light-for a 65 footer, possibly extremely so. And make no mistake, she’s not just another carbon fiber West Coast sled.

Rosebud Racing, Inc. - Homepage
Rosebud was commissioned in 2001 and finished in June 2002. It was designed by Reichel-Pugh and built by Westerley Marine in Southern California. Her first race was to Hawaii in July 2002. Jack Halterman and Gary Evans were influential in the building process. Rigging was designed by Hall Spars. Our sails are made by North Sails. The idea was that our previous boat, a SC52 racer/cruiser also named Rosebud, would be replaced by two boats: one race boat and one cruise boat. We still don't have the cruise boat.
