Description: Petit Bateau is a group of sailors scattered over twelve countries who are united in their love of short handed and single handed long distance yacht racing. Single handed and short handed (usually two people) racing offshore is a relatively modern addition to the sport of sailing. Allegedly, a half-crown bet between Blondie Haslar and Francis Chichester resulted in the first single handed transatlantic race in 1960.
