Description: Bethwaite Design is a leader in the design and technology of primarily, but not exclusively, racing and sailing skiffs. Our philosophy is to design the lightest/fastest craft around, and also to present them in a contemporary format that reflects current lifestyles. Bethwaite Design is the home of the 2-handed Olympic skiff, the 49er, as well as US Sailing Boat of the Year and 2002 ISAF youth boat, the 29er. These two classes encapsulate the knowledge that has been developed since the late fifties, knowledge that has been tested both scientifically and competitively by the whole Bethwaite family.
