1. Corby Boats Home
Welcome to the Corby Boats website where you will find a portfolio of design and/or build projects which include ultra-light displacement boats, water-ballasted offshore yachts, enthusiastic homebuilds, full-on professional handicap campaigns and even a 12 Metre restoration. A very brief history of this business is that after working for an established designer I started on my own in 1988 offering design and build under one roof with a small but extremely loyal team of fellow enthusiasts. The fact that so many customers, including Oyster Marine, have returned for a second or even third yacht.

Jussi Mannerberg - from an enthusiastic sailor to yachtdesigner The life of Jussi Mannerberg has always circled around boats. His family had boating as a hobby and the family house was located at sea in Helsinki with its own key. Parents and teachers were surprised when the young yachtdesigner was only drawing boats in his pads while other children were drawing the usual people, flowers and trees. Jussi’s first boats were built in the garage with the aid of his father.

10. Class 40 Racing
Patrice Carpentier and Pierre Rolland, Sam Manuard, Thomas Seitz and Christian Bouroulec, all are working towards building the 40 Open feet. A concept born of the Mini milieu, these naval architects and builders have now put on paper the rules for a new class of boat inspired by the Mini 650 and Open 60 classes. The idea has caught on so fast that in the next Route du Rhum we may see more of these boats than the Open 50 class The Class 40 rule itself is a box rule based primarily on a minimum displacement, maximum length, draft, beam and sail area. Other limitations include ones on materials, appendage type, stability and ballast. The resulting designs can be adapted for single or double handed racing and also fully crewed.

11. Rodger Martin Yacht Design
Our goal has always been to design boats for sailors - boats that are built accurately and beautifully, and used well. I did not know when I started this design business in 1984, that it would be the clients - the people I dealt with, that would bring the greatest pleasure. I had thought it would be the boats themselves. Rather, it is the combination that is made when sailors use boats to achieve their greatest dreams & adventures that provides a deeply satisfying magic to both designer and owner.

19. WATERPLANE DESIGN
My design goal is simple- it’s my client’s goal. How I get there is by following two basic principles: Boats should be Efficient. Whether the design is a racing sailboat, a rowboat, or a large power-yacht, the efficiency and effectiveness of the yacht as machine are paramount. For this reason we have developed expertise in many different hull forms, systems, and construction methods. We use state of the art analysis tools and techniques to achieve the highest possible efficiency in every design, and are always striving to develop, improve, and refine our designs. Form has rules, Style does not.
